Montgenevre ski resort overview:
Skiing in Montgenèvre, one of France’s oldest ski resorts, is a wonderful experience for both beginners and seasoned skiers. Nestled at about 1860m in the Southern Alps on the French–Italian border, the resort combines traditional alpine charm with modern facilities and reliable snow cover throughout the season, typically from late November to mid-April. The ski area at Montgenèvre offers varied terrain with around 95 km of pistes on its own, including green and blue runs perfect for learners and families, as well as red and black trails for more experienced skiers. It’s part of the large Via Lattea (Milky Way) ski domain, linking France with Italian resorts like Clavière, Sestrières and Sauze d’Oulx, giving access to over 400 km of interconnected slopes - ideal for long days exploring diverse terrain across borders. The resort’s 'Family Plus' label highlights its focus on family-friendly services, safe beginner zones and fun areas for children, along with ski schools and gentle nursery slopes right from the village. Intermediate skiers enjoy plenty of cruisy blues and engaging reds, while freeriders and adventurous skiers can find varied off-piste and steeper terrain around the higher sectors. Beyond skiing, Montgenèvre’s snowy landscapes, sunny alpine views and cosy village atmosphere make it a memorable winter holiday destination.
