Andermatt ski area overview:

Andermatt, situated in the heart of Switzerland, is a quiet charming modern village surrounded by dramatic scenery. Formerly a Swiss military town, it has undergone a huge transformation following a large investment by Egyptian billionaire Samih Sawiris and more recently Vail Resorts. Andermatt now boasts many luxury hotels, restaurants and appartments as well as a modern high capacity lift system. The resort is one of the three that make up the Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis ski area, a large ski area great for intermediate to advanced skiers. The slopes are north facing and high altitude making it home to excellent snow conditions as well as some of the worlds best off-piste terrain.

SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun, covers over 180 kilometers of pistes, providing ample opportunities for both beginners and seasoned professionals. For advanced skiers there's the world-famous Gemsstock mountain, which is high, north-facing and exceptionally reliable for snow. Rising to 2,961 meters, it’s famous for its challenging off-piste runs and deep powder, attracting advanced skiers looking for adventure. On the other side of town, the sunnier, gentler Nätschen area (which is connected to Sedrun) is better suited to intermediates or mixed ability skiers, ideal for families and those seeking a more relaxed experience.

Andermatt is also known for its reliable snow conditions, with a season that typically runs from November to May. The area’s modernization in recent years, including the construction of new lifts and luxury accommodations, has further enhanced its appeal, making it a top-tier destination in the Alps. Additionally, its connection to the neighboring Sedrun and Disentis areas via the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn offers even more variety for visitors.
